Father Golna has been Administrator of St. John the Evangelist Parish since July 15th, 2022. Born in 1988, the youngest of 2 children, Father Golna grew up in Washington, PA and attended St. Hilary Parish.
Father Golna attended Wheeling Jesuit University, now known as Wheeling University, and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Theology.
A few years following his college graduation, Father Golna returned to Wheeling and attended Our Lady of Peace Parish. Through prayer and study, his love for Christ and the Church grew and helped him to say yes to God’s plan for his life.
Father Golna was accepted as a seminarian for the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston and entered Theological College to complete his philosophical studies. In 2016, he was sent to the Pontifical North American College in Rome and studied Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University.
Father Golna was ordained a deacon in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome by Bishop Robert Deeley, J.C.D., on October 3rd, 2019 along with his classmates from the North American College. On June 27, 2020, he was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Mark Brennan, D.D., at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Wheeling.
Following his ordination, Father Golna was sent to complete his studies for the J.C.L. at the Pontifical Gregorian University. Father Golna has served as priest-in-residence at Saint Joseph the Worker and Sacred Heart of Mary Parishes in Weirton, Saint John University Parish in Morgantown, and the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Wheeling, and is now at Saint John the Evangelist Parish.
